A GOD TOO MANY

by A Lump of Clay

A funny thing happened the other day. I was at the mamak stall having a relaxing chat with some friends. I needed that before going on the compulsory annual stress-test called Christmas shopping. As usual, (when I am lured into a conversation and teh-tarik lebih manis is within reach), the topic veered, like a car badly in need of alignment, towards the subject of the Supreme Being. As the banter rolled across the various definitions, forms and formulae of the various entities that are touted to be “god”, it eventually morphed into the inevitable “feverish debate” stage.

OF GOLF BALLS AND MORALS - AS DANCED TO THE TWIST

by Sam J Christopher

I happened to catch an interesting piece of “trivia” on our TV3 prime-time news recently. Goes something like this:
It seems one Joslyn James held a press conference to protest the use of her image on novelty golf balls. She argued that the balls would encourage violence against women.

CHRISTIANS URGED TO WAKE UP TO REALITY OF GLBT AGENDA

Lillian Kwon

Dr. Michael Brown (left) believes Christians have already lost the battle when it comes to public opinion on homosexuality and gender identity issues.
Pro-gay books are being read in elementary school classrooms, teachers are being mandated to use gender neutral language, gay activists have been welcomed in the White House, and young evangelicals see no problem with same-sex marriage.

THE COST OF GOING ALL THE WAY WITH GOD

by David Wilkerson

One of the fastest ways to lose friends is to go all the way with God. Once you become serious about spiritual matters, forsaking all your idols, taking your eyes off the things of this world, turning to Jesus with all your heart and hungering for more of Him---you suddenly become "a religious fanatic." And soon you'll experience the worst rejection of your lifetime.

A TALE OF 2 PRINCES – Final Part

by A Lump Of Clay

Chapter 9 – The Final Showdown

Meanwhile, back in the city, Bright Star was in hysterics at the scene of the open tomb. He was mad as hell at the cowardly city troops who had all run away without putting up a fight against the Palace Guard. He was furious that his plans to finish off the heir to the King’s Throne had fizzled out in such humiliation. Not only that, it had backfired on him.

A LESSON IN CULTURAL RELATIVISM

by SGIME(Sand Gets In My Eyes)

My son attends my alma mater back in the States, a Christian, liberal arts college in a large and diverse urban center. It's a great - if somewhat socially left - school which lays down a fabulous foundation for accurate and critical thinking as well as what I call terminal curiosity. That more than anything, has prompted some interesting conversations between my son and I - and not a few opportunities for life lessons - like the one we had the other day.

OTHERS MAY, YOU CANNOT

by G. D. Watson

If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25

If God has called you to be truly like Jesus in all your spirit, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility. He will put on you such demands of obedience that you will not be allowed to follow other Christians. In many ways, He seems to let other good people do things which He will not let you do.

A TALE OF 2 PRINCES – Part 3

by A Lump Of Clay

Chapter 7 – The King makes his move

Shocked silence enveloped the Great Palace like a steel tomb, allowing the heart-rending cry of Beloved Son to echo endlessly within the walls of the once joyous Palace. 3 days ago, when the first desperate message from Beloved Son was delivered to the Throne room, the entire 72,000-strong Palace Guard had stood in full battle gear, swords drawn, horses chafing at the bit, waiting with bated breath for the word “GO” from their King. But no such command rang out from the Throne.

WHAT IS SELF-EFFORT?

by Ron Block
Self-effort comes from a particular mindset — the thinking of fallen man, which really springs from the lie of Eden. “I am a self, by myself, for myself. I must take care of myself; I must do good and avoid evil; I must strive for self-improvement and self-actualization.”

THE LIVER FLUKE

by Sam J Christopher

The liver fluke is a tiny flat worm that commonly infects cattle. In the 50’s, one Wendell Krull discovered the very amazing lifestyle of this tiny parasite. It merrily lives in the liver of cattle where it dates, mates and lays eggs. The poor cow gets sick with liver disease and eventually dies. But before it dies, the fluke eggs pass through the cattle’s system and exits along with its faeces. Guess what happens next?

A TALE OF 2 PRINCES - Pt 2

by A Lump Of Clay

Chapter 5 – The Mission Begins

As soon as Beloved Son entered the city, exhausted and hungry from the 40-day, lonesome journey from the Glorious Palace, Bright Star tracked him down and sidled up to him.
“Look here. I know who you are and why you are here. You don’t need to go to all this trouble just to win over a few of these wretched fellows for your kingdom. I already have a kingdom here.

ON RABBITS' FEET & CHRISTIAN RELICS

by Desert Rose

During the Raya holidays, I caught an interesting documentary on television. Two months before Princess Diana’s untimely death, she’d given permission for her gowns to be auctioned off and the proceeds given to charity. Each garment had been finely crafted and richly embellished - fit for royalty. The outfits sold for between USD 20K and USD 200k and followed their new owners to various parts of the world.

WATCH OUT FOR THAT TREEEE....!!

by A Lump Of Clay

2010 was barely into its second month, when a close friend suddenly took ill – strangely ill. She had hysterics, suffered amnesia, spoke different languages to different people at different times, developed hair loss and threw tantrums that nearly gave her father a heart-attack. She even changed her looks – from golden brown to shiny white!

WORSHIP 101

by Desert Rose
Another word I think that's worth reclaiming is 'WORSHIP'. Today worship is used to refer to the time of singing we have in our service. We ask, "Where do you worship?" or "Did you enjoy the time of worship?"

Interestingly, the first time we encounter the word worship in the Bible is in Genesis 22

A TALE OF 2 PRINCES - Pt 1

by A Lump Of Clay

Chapter 1 – The Prince Gets Cocky

In the beginning of time, in a land far glorious than ours, there was a great and mighty King who ruled over a vast kingdom. This King had a prince called Bright Star who was a handsome man and grew to be a brave and mighty warrior. The King was proud of Bright Star and gave him a great army to command. So magnificent and powerful was Bright Star that the people of the Palace fell over each other to please him. Every time he walked the halls of the palace, it was like sweet music to their ears.

PG 18 (Parental Guidance Recommended) - The Censored Edition

by A Lump Of Clay

My head was still spinning from the powerful words of the travelling preacher as I made my way out of the church. Wow! This collared-one dared to preach the Gospel Of Jesus Christ, even at the risk of not being invited again? That's a change. So I closed my eyes and told myself, "Enough said lah. Time for yours truly to just SHADDAP till Christmas."

I was out for some fresh air one Sunday morning and I again met the Thing-with-the-tail. This time it was sitting by the church entrance, it’s head bandaged, clutching an i-phone and moaning. Stooping, I asked the Thing-with-the-tail why it was crying.

THE KINGS OF ORIENT-R

by Sam J Christopher

The characters in the traditional Christmas play that always has me puzzled are the 3 bearded chaps wrapped in bedspreads, singing “We 3 kings of Orient-R”. Never heard of a country called Orient-R. Doesn’t show up in Google Maps either.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

THIS is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was preached when I was a kid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiDkMlmgS3c

THIS is the Gospel that needs to be preached today especially INSIDE the church.
THIS is the one and only Gospel that carries life-changing power.
THIS is the one and only Gospel that makes Lucifer and his mighty army piss in their pants.
Where is the priority of THIS gospel in our "worship" services today? Replaced by all sorts of OTHER gospels - schemes, gimmicks, formulas and programs masquerading as "spiritual development"?
Take away THIS Gospel and jump straight to Acts 2, and the church will most surely perish while happily floating around blabbering mockeries in the name of GOD, Jesus, Holy Spirit, appa, aiyaa and what not.
If you and I are to survive in this deceitful church, if our kids are to survive in this deceitful world, it is desperatley imperative to expose ourselves and our children to THIS Gospel FIRST & FOREMOST, and it is THIS gospel ALONE that will guarantee our and our children's salvation to God's own glory!
And we better do this while we still can take back the Bible from the pulpit.
